Using the tool

Gib Color is free to use, for personal and commercial work alike. No account is needed and there are no usage limits.

Colour values you generate

Colour values produced by this tool are facts about colour, not creative works, and no claim is made over them. Use them in anything, including commercial and closed-source projects, with no attribution required.

Accuracy

Conversions follow the CSS Color 4 specification and are covered by an automated test suite that checks published reference values. Even so, the tool is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Colour is a deep subject with many conventions, and the correct answer sometimes depends on context the tool cannot see — your display profile, your render pipeline's colour management, the ICC profile a printer will use.

CMYK output in particular is a naive conversion, as it is in every web-based tool. It is a starting point, not a production separation. If colour accuracy carries real cost, verify against your actual output device.

Availability

No uptime is guaranteed. The site may change, move or disappear. If it becomes important to your workflow, copy out the values you depend on rather than relying on it being here.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its output.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to disrupt the site or use automated means to place unreasonable load on it. Everything the tool computes runs in your own browser, so scraping the generated pages gains you nothing you could not compute locally.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised version.
